In 2008, I made a little movie called Election Day. It’s about a political campaign in which a murder is revealed. I didn’t think it was very good.
I watched it again, and it’s not bad. The acting and photography are professional caliber. My direction isn’t half-bad. The “mystery” is the weakest part—the little “blank card” trick is, I learned later, a cliché.
A lot of good things came from this—friendships with crew and cast members, for example. Ami C. Trowell played the First Lady of Virginia, and now she’s the first lady of Lucky Tonight, a film I hope performs better on the festival circuit.
Here is Election Day. It gets a lot of views in November, for some reason.
